A mince pie? A mind-blowing tree? To see Santa? Snow? Two minutes peace? A full roast dinner? Whatever it is you want this christmas… I am pretty sure Dubai will be able to fulfil it! Now halloween is over, don’t tell me you’re not already planning christmas… Because even Guy Fawkes night has just past by… So although under official UAE events we have the prophets’ (PBUH) birthday and UAE national day to consider to… We know for a lot of people.. Christmas is the next big event! So I thought I would have a ganders at whats about and shoot out some ideas!
Snow white and the seven dwarfs
So it’s not quite christmas but I loved this story as a child and I know it is still much loved! The show is on from December 20-29th @ Dubai Community and Arts Theatre! Tickets range from 85-153 and there are range of times from 11AM-2PM/3Pm and there is even a late show at 7PM! It is a great way to spend the festive season, or kick it in! Performed by professional actors, a young choir group and a UK tech team… You won’t regret this choice!
So from a winter wonderland story to a tale for those who maybe don’t celebrate christmas (Don’t worry if you do, you’ll still have time)… Dubai Shopping Festival! From December 25th- January 27th the malls, general retail places and markets go crazy on promotions, deals, competitions, and much more! It is true shipping paradise for just over a month… Be sure to pop into your favourite stores or places to see if you can grab a cheeky bargain, I know I will be!
Good old christmas markets!
I am sure you have all heard of the German markets and the Christmas villages, but Dubai has its very own markets for you to explore this festive season!
- Theres the village @ Atlantis the palm; With a visit from Santa, gift hampers, glitter tattoos and a Chocolate River… You will want to check this one out!
- Souk Festival @ Madinat Jumeira; This is my personal favourite at christmas time, the wonderful trees, lights and decoration in this stunning old traditional Arab atmosphere is such a wonderful place to be to get festive! With views of the Burj al Arab, the wonderful hotels and an ice rink and “North Pole” train… If you don’t go anywhere else… Grab a Cinnabon and coffee @ The Souk Festival!
- Festive Market @ La farine; Here you will see a MASSIVE gingerbread house made from over 100s of kg of flour, honey, 150kg of sugar and much more… the Building start December 3rd and will be completed by the 4th… You have to run down and watch it! There’s also roasted chestnuts, hand-crafted cakes and whole bunch of festive joy to spread around!
Dubai winter festival
From the 6-9h December @ Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, the winter festival is celebrating their 6th year! The festival boasts everything from Santa’s grotto, pantomimes, a snow slide, letters to Santa, To a funfair, winter market, snow play zone and even a princess show! Timings are 4-10p Wednesday & Thursday, and 3-10 Friday & Saturday! Partners and sponsors include the French Bakery, Splash ‘n’ Party, Mai Dubai and much more! You will certainly find something for all ages here, just in time to get you ready for the festive season!
