So, as things go… We want to bring you more of the people who live in Dubai, hands on experience of people who live,work and study here… So today I bring you a Rapper! Let’s take a look at the music industry in Dubai.
Hassan Na’im, better known by his rap/stage name, Teei Weei, is a rapper, singer, songwriter and a music producer based in Dubai.
Aged 8, he started writing poetry and by the age of 10, he developed music production skills which resulted in a recording, after which he kept working to make his name locally. Musically, he is inspired by Eminem, Tupac, Michael Jackson etc.

How long have you been in Dubai and what brought you (or your family) here?
I was born and raised here. My father shifted here because he was offered a good and stable job here.
What opportunities has Dubai given you?
As Dubai has advanced and developed, it has created new opportunities for someone like me, who is trying to make a name in the music business and so far, I’ve had a good response in terms of motivation, feedback and drive.
What is your favorite thing about Dubai?
Personally, I’m a fan of malls and skyscrapers, which are found everywhere in Dubai, but that’s not it, Dubai is one of the safest places to live in at the same time.
Where do you see your music in the future and how do you plan to get there?
It has not been easy to get here, I’ve put in a lot of effort in order for people to hear my music across Dubai. I strive to be an international music icon, and I’m going to work as hard as I can, to achieve that goal.
What is your advice for our tourists in Dubai?
It wouldn’t be wrong if I said that Dubai is a heaven for tourists, we’ve got all kinds of things here, from people of different nationalities, to man made islands in the middle of the sea.
What/Who is your inspiration and why?
Musically, my biggest inspiration is Eminem. His struggle is different from the other mainstream artists, thus, he’s my favorite, but there are others like Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, The Beatles, who I think have made a huge impact on music.
What are your top 3 places to go in Dubai? Please state why for each one
I would put Burj Khalifa on the first of the top 3 places, as you can practically see most of Dubai from up there and it looks amazing with Dubai mall’s fountains dancing to a rhythm down below it at night.
Secondly, The Desert Safari, it has a cultural appeal to it, which makes it look exquisite.
Lastly, Jumeira Beach Residences, a Manhattan-like place in Dubai, surrounded by people from all over the globe, a great place to mark the development of Dubai in the past 10 years.
Whats your advice for youngsters who aspire to get into the music industry?
I can’t give much advice as I, myself haven’t reached as far as I aspire to, but yes, hard work is the first most important thing followed by originality and being at the right place at the right time.

Music industry here is still in the developing stages, I’m playing my part to boost it, so are other thousands of talented individuals around Dubai who are also the part of the music industry.
What are your top 3 tips for artists visiting Dubai?
For the mainstream artists, Dubai is a huge market, everyone listens to all kinds of music here.
For those still in transition, its also a great place to continue their career as there are many opportunities here for the raw talent.
Also, music is heard by people from different race and backgrounds so it spreads at a quick pace.
